A very ancient temple of Suyambu Vinayagar. At the time of “Aswametha Yagam,” Raman and Laxman searched for 4000 Dekshidars to perform Yagam. At Chidambaran there were only 3000 Dikshidar. Hence they performed Yagam at Thiru Nangar. At Nangur 3999 Dikshithar were available with a shortage of one. One priest came for help. After yagam he disappeared and he gave darshan at the tree.
