A very ancient temple of Lord Siva.The (main idol) Moolavar Suyambu.The kavasam is removed once in a year only. Punugu Abisegam is done on the occasion.

Brahman, Indran, Agathiyar, Chandran, Suriyan, Agni, Pathanchali, Vyakrapathar(Saptha Kanniar), Seven Mathas, and Rajendra Cholan worshipped here and were blessed.

Thiru Kalikamar lived here. Thiru kalikamr offered food to all sivanadiyars. He lost his wealth. He prayed to Lord Siva. Siva offered a strong rain to cultivate his 12 veli (acre) land. When there was a flood, Kalikamar prayed to Lord Siva to protect the land. The flood ran diverting his land. These incidents are noted in Sundarar’s Padigam. Thiru kalikamar was furious at Sundarar, as Sundarar made Lord Siva an ambassador for his love affairs with Paravai Nathchiyar. Thiru Kalikamar was sick with intestinal problems. Siva ordered Sundarar to visit Kalikamar's house. To avoid Sundarar Kalikamar tried to commit suicide by sickling himself. On knowing this Sundarar also tried to sickle himself with the same sickle. Lord Siva blessed both of them and made them friends.
