Once to curtail Nalan, Kari Nathan came here on the way to Thiru Nallar. He was fainted by ill health. He prayed Siva. Siva told him to take Holy bath on the Theertha Kulam and worship here. But there was no water in the tank. There was a famine. Again, Kari Nathar prayed. Vaunan rained over the tank and Karinathar took the bath. He prayed to Siva here and freed from the disease.

Semmangudi Aadhi Kedu Sthalam

A very ancient temple of Lord Siva Thiru Naganatha Swamy and Karpoora Valli Ammai. When Mohini cut the head of Asura, while distributing Amirtham, the body fell here and was alive. It worshipped Siva here and was blessed by Siva and attained Powers.

Thirumangala Gudi

An ancient temple of Lord Siva Praneswarar/Prana Nathar and Ambigai Mangala Nayagi. For Sumangali Pooja, Sumangali rope (“dollar”) Prasadhan is gifted here. Mangalar worshipped here. Heart diseases and heart problems are curable.

Thirukuvalai

An ancient temple of Lord Siva Brahma Pureeswarar/Thiru Kolili Udaiyar,/Thiru Kolili Udaya Nayanar/Thiru Kolili Nathar and Ambigai Vandamar Poon Kuzhalal.This temple has no Navagrahas. All Navagrahams (Planets) worship Lord Siva surrendering their powers. They have no evil or virtual Powers.Gnana Sambandar in padigam sang “ Praising Siva” as the God who clears all doshams. One Brahman formed a Lingam with white sand and worshipped Siva. Pancha Pandava, Droupathi worshipped here. Beeman killed Bagasuran, to clear Brahma Hathi Dosham worshipped Siva here.

Kundaiyur

An ancient temple of Lord Siva Sundareswarar Ambigai Meenatchi Ammai. Sundarar’s friend Kundaiyur Kizhar (real name not known – Kizhar= land lord) lived here. As he prayed, Siva gave him a mountain of Paddy at Thiru Kuvalai.
