A famous temple of Lord Siva Swamy Velli Malai Nathar and Ammai Periya Nayagi. Thirugnana Sambandar sang Padigams. Agaligai, Thirumagal, and nine planets worshipped here and were blessed by Siva and attained powers. Arithaman ( a Chola King) worshipped here. Laxmi, Suryan, Chandaran, Mangalan, Buddhan, Guru, Sukkiran, Kari (Saturn), Raghu, and Kethu Lingams are here.

Kai Chinnam

An ancient temple of Lord Siva Swamy kaichinnaeswarar/karamchinna Eswarar and Ammai Vel Valai Nayagi(Swetha Valli). Indran, Agathiyar, Dhiruna bindhu munivar,Astavasu-vithuman, and Mithrachajan worshipped siva here.Indran made the Lingam with white sand; when he tried to lift Lingam after worship, he could not.The Lingam remained here. His finger prints (Kai Chinnam) on the deity (Moolaver) could be seen. Sambandar sang padigams.

Thiru Pariyalur/Thiru Parasalur

Dakkan’s daughter Daskshayini married Siva. Dakshan was gifted by Siva, Brahman’s Powers. Dakshan made one Yagam here and invited all Devars, including Vishnu and Brahman. But he refused to invite his daughter Dakshayini and Siva for Yagnam. Siva got angry. Dakshayini, in order to compromise her father Dakshan, went to Thiru Parasalur where the Yagam was performed. Dakshan insulted Dakshayini (Umai). Dakshayini jumped into the fire of Yagam and immolated herself. On seeing this, Siva with full of anger, created Vara Badrar and Navakali and sent to Dakshan’s Yagam to kill Dakshan. Agni lost his tongues. Brahman, Thirumal, Suriyan, Chandran, and all Devars were punished severely by Veerabadrar here. Veera badrar set fire and ablaze the field.
