Thiru Kovalur Temple

Anthaka Suran was killed by Lord Siva (Anthagan-- Darkness). Gnana Sambandar and Appar sang padigams (20 songs). Avvaiyar sang Vinayagar Agaval here. Vinayagar,Murugar,Ramar, Parasu Ramar, Sri Krishnar, Indran, Kali, Suriyan, Guru, Sukkiran,Uromasa Munivar, Kannuvar, Kabilar, Mirukandu, Pathanjali, VyakraPathar, Manmathan, Kuberan, Vana suran, Adhisedan, Saptharishis worshipped here and were blessed by Siva.

Thiru Kandiyur

Brahman created Thiilothamai. On seeing her beauty, he created one head on all four sides of him. When she worshipping around him, she had seen Brahman`s passion towards her. Thiilothamai flew aove Brahman on sky. Brahman created another head to look above also and chased her. Thiilothamai surrended herself to Lord Siva and prayed. Siva got angry on Brahman’s behaviour and shaved his head which was above.

This place is called Brahma Sira Kandeswaram. Suriyan worshipped here. Nandhi and Dakshan worshipped here. Appar sang padigams. There is a Perumal temple here(Thiru Mangala Aalwar).

Thiiruvarur Piruthivi Sthalam

An ancient temple of Lord Siva Vanmiga Nathar/Puttridam Kondar and Ammai Kan Malurum Ambigai/Alliyan Gothai/Neelothpalambal. One who is born here will attain Mukthi without any efforts. Sambandar ,Sundarar, Appar sang 37 padigams.

Thiru Marai Kadu

A very ancient temple of Lord Siva Maraikatteswara/Veda Aranyaeswara/Veda Vana Easwarar, Vedaaranya Nathar and AmmaiYazhai Pazhitha NanMozhi Ammai,In epics before Vedic period, the town is known as Sabtha Giri; Lord Siva is known as Sabtha Gireswarar; Ambigai as Sabtha Nayagi; the river is known as the Sabtha Nathi.

Cheraman Perumal and Sundarar worshipped here. In epic, A rat often came and brightened the lamps by raising the thread. Siva blessed the rat and the rat was born as Mavali Chakravarthi. (Maha Bali). Nasi Kethu, Swetha Gathu did Thabas here. Appar sang padigams to open the door which was shut and locked by Vedas once. After Darshan, Gnana Sambandar sang one padigam to shut the door again. The other names of this place in epics are Aadi Sedhu, Kayilayam, Paramayanam, Gnana Boomi, and Thiru Maraikkadu. Rama Piran worshipped here.
